YOU CAN Unlock Your Confidence

From the YOU CAN series โ€” drxve.com/youcan

Confidence doesn't come from things you get. Things you buy. Things that happen to you.

It just doesn't.

You may feel some type of way about it. You may feel good for a minute. But in general โ€” you have to earn confidence. You have to do something for it. And not just anything.

You have to do the things you said you were going to do.

I'll be the first to say โ€” in my life, I haven't always done all the things I said I was going to do. I'm working through my own things. Business. Health. Everything you have to deliver on โ€” not just for yourself, but for the people you love, the people around you, the people who depend on you.

But confidence comes from that. From saying to yourself at night โ€” I'm going to wake up and do this. And then actually getting your @$$ up and doing it.

That's part one.

PART 1: DO THE THINGS YOU SAID YOU WERE GOING TO DO

This is the foundation.

Confidence is built in the gap between what you said and what you did. Every time those two things match โ€” you said it, you did it โ€” that's a deposit. Every time they don't match โ€” that's a withdrawal.

Most people wonder why their confidence is low. They're overdrawn. They've been telling themselves things they're not following through on. Not because they're weak. Because they don't have a plan that connects the saying to the doing.

That's what training does. Every session is a chance to say you're going to show up โ€” and then show up. Small. Consistent. Compounding.

You can build your confidence. Start there.

PART 2: DO THE THINGS YOU TOLD YOURSELF YOU COULDN'T DO

This is what YOU CAN is actually about.

Right now there's something you're telling yourself you can't do. I don't know what it is. Maybe it's a pushup. Maybe it's running a mile. Maybe it's lifting a weight you've been staring at for six months. Maybe it's not a gym thing at all.

As a coach, my job isn't to just tell you "you can do it" arbitrarily. That's empty. My job is to tell you โ€” you CAN, and here's the plan. That's the key. YOU CAN. With a plan.

Because you can't get the progress without the process. And the process doesn't go level 1 straight to level 10. It goes level 1 โ†’ 1.1 โ†’ 1.11 โ†’ 1.12 โ†’ 1.2. There's a whole lot of in-between. You have to be ready to do the dirty work to get through those levels.

Training is a microcosm of life. For Life We Train โ€” because the same process you go through to make progress in the gym is the same process you have to go through to make progress in life. Same principles. Same dirty work. Same in-betweens.

So when you come in and you can't do a pushup โ€” and we work on all the things that help you do a pushup โ€” and then one day you do a pushup โ€” nobody can take that from you.

It doesn't matter if someone outside says "you can't do pushups." Even if you don't demonstrate it to them. You know you can. That's internal confidence. That has nothing to do with outside validation.

That's the way you UNLOCK your confidence. Do the things you told yourself you couldn't do.

PART 3: BE GROUNDED

This one is different from the first two. Those are about doing. This one is about being.

Being grounded doesn't just mean being down to earth. It means being solid โ€” solid in what you believe and solid in who you are.

That groundedness can come from different places. Maybe it came from your upbringing โ€” people around you who spoke life into you, who gave you reassurance, who built you up from the ground up strong. That's still in you. That's a foundation. Maybe it comes from your faith โ€” you know what you believe, you're firm in it, and that gives you the confidence to face whatever comes because you know what you're standing on.

Whatever your level of grounding comes from โ€” when you go out into the world and you face challenges, you're able to look at them and say this is just another challenge. And work through it.

I can't tell you which one of the three comes first because honestly it's different for everyone. Sometimes you do things and you realize who you are. Sometimes you achieve something you thought you couldn't do and it teaches you who you are. And that teaches you to be more grounded. The three things feed each other.

THE FULL PICTURE

It's not a one-step process.

It's the dirty work.

You go back. You come back. You do the things you said you were going to do. You do the things you thought you couldn't do. And you build โ€” or rebuild โ€” your groundedness in who you are and where that ability comes from.

Whether you believe your gifts come from God or from your own will โ€” you still have to actuate it. You still have to put the work in. You still have to show up.

So be confident. You CAN.

And hopefully all of this just helps you understand โ€” you can.
